Math Workshop

The class math block will be approximately an hour long.  During math, we will complete:

Math Journals/Problem Solving: Our class will also regularly spend time utilizing our Math Journals to practice problem solving strategies, write about our thinking, and develop math vocabulary skills.

Daily Math Warmup: This is intended to be a spiral review of the first grade benchmark skills.

Class lessons using both our Envisions and Investigations Math Programs: During this time, we will work as a whole class on a given math concept or strategy.

Math Workshop (Independent Small Group Practice): After the class lesson, students will have an opportunity to practice math concepts by doing selected hands-on activities from a math menu.  Also during this time, I will work with students for small group math instruction. Math workshop is differentiated and allows all students to work at their instructional levels.
