Hello First Graders and First Grade Families,

My name is Mrs. Farmer. I am looking forward to an exciting year in first grade and meeting all of you! This is my 12th year in education and my 7th year here at Copper Creek. I graduated summa cum laude from Grand Canyon University. I am certified in Elementary Education and hold endorsements in Early Childhood Education, English as a Second Language, and Gifted Education. I have taught English as a Second Language, kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. I also continue to take classes to further my knowledge and education. I love to learn!

When I am not teaching, I like to read, cook, take long walks and spend time with my husband, James, and our beautiful daughter Audrey. She will be starting 8th grade this year at Glendale Preparatory Academy. Our family also includes two Siamese cats, Bo and Mei-Ling; and a fluffy bichon frise named Gigi. You will probably hear many stories about them this year!

It is such an honor for me to be your child’s teacher this year. First grade is the most amazing year for learning!

Mission:

My mission as a teacher is to create a safe and caring environment where the expectations for learning are high. I believe all children can and want to learn, they just need the right tools. As a class, we will establish a community that celebrates the likenesses and differences in one another. I will foster the belief that learning should be both fun and challenging. Students will also learn that mistakes are OK because that is how we learn and grow. By using project-based learning, cooperative learning strategies, differentiated instruction, hands-on activities, and technology, I will encourage each child to achieve his or her highest potential and lay a strong foundation for a life-long love of learning.
